This program will rebate California consumers $200 for new eligible, energy-efficient refrigerators, $100 for washing machines; and $50 for air-conditioners. This rebate program is in addition to rebate programs already offered by Azusa Light & Water.
Funding is part of $300 million from the February 2009 stimulus package distributed to states for appliance rebate programs by the federal government. Rebates will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. To qualify for the rebates, the purchased appliances must replace existing appliances that are in working condition. The existing appliances must then be recycled, through either a retailer such as Sears or Best Buy that has partnered with the CEC, or a city or county recycling program.
